Chapbook template for poets: three fold and staple poetry booklets
Turn loose poems into a small, real book you made with your own hands.
Overview
This chapbook template lets poets hand-make a little book of their own poems. It holds three folded booklets of 8, 12 and 16 pages, all laid out in saddle-stitch order, so you simply print on both sides, fold the stack and staple. The 24 page PDF comes in US Letter, which folds into half letter pages (5.5 x 8.5 in), and in A4, which folds into A5 pages (148 x 210 mm). Instant download, nothing shipped.
You write every poem in by hand, so each copy feels personal and one of a kind.
How the chapbook template turns poems into a book
Each booklet page takes up precisely half a sheet, so no cutting is needed. The front cover is already paired with the back cover and page 2 with the second-last page, and once folded, the numbers fall into order. Every chapbook is built like a proper book: cover, dedication and copyright page, title page and contents, poem pages and an about the poet page. Twelve poem layouts give short pieces, long pieces, two-column poems, a fourteen line page and a prose poem page each their own form.
Before writing your final copy, use the planning worksheet and page map to pick a theme, narrow down your poems and assign each one a page. The imposition and folding guides make clear which pages print back to back and how to staple or sew the spine.
