Garden journal booklet: a pocket planting and harvest log to fold
A slim garden notebook that fits your apron pocket and waits by the back door.
Overview
This garden journal booklet prints on your home printer and folds into an undated 24 page pocket book with a layout grid, bed plans, a seed list, planting logs, a log for watering and feeding, a harvest log and to-do pages for each season. The pages already sit in saddle-stitch sequence, two to a side on landscape paper, so you print on both sides, fold the pile down the middle and add staples.
You download a 15 page PDF in two versions. The US Letter file gives you half letter pages, and the A4 file gives you A5 pages (148 x 210 mm). It is ready right away, and nothing is mailed.
How the garden journal booklet follows your season
Draw the whole plot on the layout grid, plan four beds one square at a time, and record every seed packet with its variety, where it came from and how much remains. As the season goes on, the planting log notes what you put in, where it went and when it sprouted, the watering and feeding log keeps track of water, fertilizer and amounts, and the harvest log on the center spread records every basket you bring in.
Since every booklet page takes up precisely one half of the sheet, scissors are never needed. Page 1 prints beside page 24, page 2 beside page 23, and the numbers fall into order once you fold. The finished book is thin enough for an apron or jacket pocket, so it can stay near the back door, and once the logs fill up you just print another.
Who this folded garden log is for
- Gardeners growing vegetables or flowers who want a light paper journal for a pocket rather than a heavy binder
- Raised bed and square foot growers who enjoy planning each bed one square at a time
- Allotment and community garden growers who keep a small booklet for each plot or each season
- New gardeners who want easy pages to remember what went in, when it came up and what they picked
Design, sizes and printing
- Elegant, minimalist look: white pages and soft blush pink touches that use very little ink
- Generous margins all around, so a home printer will not clip anything
- US Letter file: half letter booklet pages (5.5 x 8.5 in), printed two to a side on landscape 11 x 8.5 in paper. A4 file: A5 pages (148 x 210 mm), printed two to a side on landscape A4 paper. The saddle-stitch order is already set, so there is nothing to cut
- Undated, and it works in feet or meters and pounds or kilos, so you can begin in any season
- Pink fold marks on each sheet, a number on each page of the booklet and marks showing where to staple at the center spread

- Colors may look a little different on your screen than on paper.
- For your personal use only. Sharing, reselling or passing the files on is not allowed.
- Digital files cannot be returned. If a file will not open or print properly, email us and we will help quickly.
- The watering, feeding and pest pages are only for your own records and do not give gardening or pesticide advice. Frost dates and growing zones depend on where you live, and you should always follow the label on any garden product.
- Printers align the reverse side slightly differently, so try one sheet on plain paper before you print the full booklet.
