Memory journal of life lists, one era at a time, undated PDF
Write your life story in short, easy lists, and watch whole years come back one song or friend at a time.
Overview
Memory journal pages that let you record your life through lists, one era at a time, with no pressure to write it all in order. The undated set has 30 pages: lists for five stages of life, nine lists that span your whole life, a section about the homes you have lived in, and blank list pages for your own ideas. You get US Letter and A4 PDFs as an instant download, and nothing is mailed.
It is a gentle way to capture the small details before they slip away, and to leave something warm for the people you love.
Why a memory journal of lists works
A list is a wonderful memory trigger. You write down one song, and it reminds you of a friend. The friend brings back a place, and suddenly an entire year is in front of you again.
Every era, from early childhood through your thirties and beyond, uses the same eight lists: songs, friends, foods, clothes and haircuts, places, firsts, things I owned and what I worried about. Little prompts under each heading help you get started. The life-long tables cover jobs, pets, trips, cars, gifts, teachers, meals, shows and books, so you can keep adding for years, and a list index means your own lists are always easy to find again.
Who this journal is for
- Anyone who would love to record their life story without taking on a whole memoir
- Grown-ups who enjoy nostalgia, songs from the past and the little details of growing up
- Parents and grandparents hoping to pass their memories on to the family
- People who prefer quick lines in a list over long pages of writing
Design and printing
- Clean, minimalist layout with white pages and soft blush pink details that go easy on ink
- Ample margins on every page, so your home printer will not clip the edges
- Available in US Letter (8.5 x 11 in) and A4 (210 x 297 mm), both portrait
- No dates, so you can begin anytime and fill it slowly over months or even years
- The eight lists repeat for every era, which makes it easy to compare one decade with another
- Use it in a binder or on a clipboard, or get it spiral bound at a print shop

Questions
Questions about the memory journal
Which life eras are covered?
There are five: early childhood (0 to 5), school years (6 to 12), teens (13 to 19), twenties (20 to 29) and thirties onward (30 and beyond). Each one gets the same eight lists across two pages.
Do I need to write my life story in order?
No. You fill in short lists one era or topic at a time, in any order you like, and the list index helps you keep track.
What if I run out of lines?
Simply reprint any era pair, life-long list or blank list page. The journal is undated, so you can keep adding for as long as you want.
Is it a good gift for a parent or grandparent?
It was made with them in mind, as a way to leave memories for the family. The questions for my family page also helps you collect stories from relatives.
